Karren firmly believes that, as someone in the public eye, she had a responsibility to use her contacts and influence for the greater good. She has engaged in charitable and fundraising work for many years, and these are the causes that she is proud to support at present:
Wellbeing of Women: For over 50 years, Wellbeing of Women has been raising awareness, and funds, for reproductive and gynaecological research, and providing health information for women. Karren uses her role as one of its Ambassadors to help bring awareness of their vital work to a wider audience.
Wellchild: As a mother of two, Karren is proud to represent Wellchild, which provides care, support and research programmes for seriously ill children and their families across Britain.
The Stroke Association: A quarter of a million people in Britain are living with long-term disabilities resulting from a stroke. As the charity’s first Life After Stroke Patron, Karren is working to raise awareness of this huge health problem, which affects children, as well as adults.
Mothercare Group Foundation: Run by Britain’s best-known baby goods retailer, the Foundation provides grants to support the health and well-being of mums-to-be, new mums, and those with premature and other special babies. Karren is Chairman of the Foundation, bringing her personal and business experience to bear.
Teenage Cancer Trust: With teenage children of her own, this cause is very close to Karren’s heart, and she is delighted to have the opportunity to help this wonderful charity raise funds for education, research and support.
